Cooking is one of the greatest and most versatile hobbies one could have. It comes in many shapes and forms – from grilling to baking – it all boils down to the same essence. The art of cooking blends freedom, character, personality, and passion.

For one to be a proper chef, one has to experiment with all sorts of dishes. A pellet smoker can open up a whole new dimension in your world of cooking. Smoking is a process of cooking meat, vegetables, nuts, and even cheese.

The process can be used to preserve precious meat (especially that of game animals), brown food, or to add a bit of a punch to a meal. It’s a process that takes a while, but it brings great satisfaction.

A-MAZE-N claim they’ve manufactured just the right accessory for BBQ aficionados. We’ll see how their pellet smoker performs and how reliable it is.

Why Get It?

What’s sets this smoker apart from the rest of the smokers on the market? The answer lies in its tubular shape. The design is impressive as it’s reasonably small and can fit between the grates without any problems. Thanks to its smaller size, you are not limited to big grills.

It’s not only small, but quite lightweight too, so you can bring it wherever – fishing, hiking, camping. The smoker is made of stainless steel, so you don’t have to worry about corrosion and rust.

The Smoking Process

It’s all pretty straightforward. The add-on comes with a clear-cut and easy to follow manual. To use it, first, you must fill it up to the brim with wood pellets.

Since there is no lid (something that the manufacturer should consider putting in in the future), you must place the smoker in a vertical position. That way the pellets won’t get out.

A-MAZE-N Content

The base is quite smooth, which makes things much easier. After you fill up the chamber, ignite the open end. Note – you must do it by using quite a high temperature. So, it would be best if you are able to employ some heavy-duty equipment to help you.

Hot and Cold Smoking

The A-MAZE-N Pellet Tube is excellent for traditional smoking, also known as hot smoking. It takes up very little space on the grill. Simply place it at the side, – it won’t pose an obstacle.

It’s especially handy if you have a gas or electric grill. The tube will bring out the smokiness that’s typical of the authentic BBQ taste.

A word of advice – don’t keep it close to the actual heat as it will burn the fuel faster that way. The tube will provide you with all the smoke you need to cook practically anything, just make sure to store it safely and not to let the fuel get contaminated by water, in order to avoid mold.

Cold smoking is the process of smoking a meal without heating up the grill. It’s done to give flavor to meat, cheese, or vegetables, without grilling them straight away. It can also be done to enrich an already cooked dish with a nice smoky flavor.

The tube can last four hours during cold smoking. Simply light it up, toss some salmon, close the lid, and when it’s all done, enjoy that delicious, elegant dish with family and friends. There’s really no effort to it.

Testimonials

“I’ve had other smokers that performed quite well. However, occasionally, I wished to get some without any heat. That’s why I got the A-MAZE-N – it lets me smoke vegetables and all kinds of meat before cooking them.

It came much appreciated as it also allows me to supplement the smoke of my Traeger to get a more smokey flavor. The first thing I did after buying it was smoke some homemade bacon on hickory pellets for four hours. I wanted to make sure the four-hour claim is true immediately – and it is.

Another day, I smoked pulled pork with eight hours of cold smoke (had to refill the tube after four hours). It was the best pulled pork I’ve ever tasted.

Unfortunately, I don’t always have the time to go through the whole four or eight hours, so I’d come up with a trick. When I am short on time, I light both ends. That way there’s more smoke in half the time.”

- Jerry

Jerry’s right about many things. This tube does offer more possibilities that others do not. But Jerry is also quite brilliant. Lighting both tips is a neat trick.

The food probably won’t taste as good as it would’ve been smoked regularly, with only one end lit, but it’s a great time-saver. The manufacturer ought to include that in the manual.

What to Watch Out For

Don’t forget to clean it properly after each use. The cleaning process is pretty easy and straightforward. After each use, you might end up with a quarter of a cup of pellets and dust – nothing more, so the mess is brought down to a minimum. You can use a small strip of tinfoil as a precaution. It’ll keep the ash off the burners.

Verdict

The A-MAZE-N 12-in pellet smoker is easy to use and quite versatile. It was designed to fit all grill grates without any problems, and it does its job pretty well. This tube is a must-have add-on for every BBQ enthusiast.
